Mactan Shrine

In this spot stands a monument of the bravest Cebuano in history, Lapulapu, who defeated the well-known Portuguese explorer and colonizer Ferdinand Magellan.  Rejecting to be converted to Christianity, Lapulapu fought against Magellan's guns and canons with just bolos and spears.  Lapulapu eventually defeated and killed Magellan on March 16, 1521.
